ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT Here at Homewood Lodge we are committed to providing an
excellent quality of service for our guests whilst also minimising the
environmental impact of our activities. By doing so we hope (albeit in
a small way) to help maintain the beauty of the Cairngorm National Park
for the enjoyment of visitors and local people alike. |

To achieve this, we have implemented a number of measures
as follows:- Use of household cleaning products which do not harm the environment. Ensure the efficient use of energy and water throughout the household. Recycling a variety of household products including glass, paper, cans, cardboard, plastic and food waste. Providing a natural habitat which encourages wildlife. Promoting a no smoking environment for the benefit of our guests. |
|
A symbol of our commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Under this scheme we have achieved a Silver Award and are working towards our Gold. As part of our commitment to the environment we have wonderful gardens front and rear, where we actively encouraged wildlife. We are establishing a small reserve for birds and also have a pond. |

| Last year, Rosi and Eduard Veltmeyer spent a great deal of time in the garden watching the birds and we are very grateful for the comprehensive list of the "inhabitants" which they gave us. | ![]() |

They saw a total of 26 species of birds including Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Coal Tit, Northern Lapwing and more. They also saw the two families of Pheasants - male, female and "chicks", and took photos of the cock and hen you see here. (We christened them "Sonny & Cher" but that dates us). | |
| Rosi also spotted the deer which frequent the garden (which
she named Wilf and Jennifer) and the regular Red Squirrels which are a
constant source of amusement. Our thanks go to Rosi and Eduard for these wonderful photographs. |

We also have a range of environmental practises,
from saving water by having "towel agreements" with our guests
to providing bins for waste i.e. cans, plastic, glass and paper. THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO STAY AT HOMEWOOD LODGE. Wilf & Jennifer. |
